Biography:
St. George, UT - Susan (Sue) Cannon, 86, passed away at the Kolob Care Center, August 30, 2009. She was born September 10, 1922, in Manchester, Iowa to Albert Morgan and Florence Fleming Cloud. She was raised in Manchester and graduated from Manchester High School. After graduating she moved to Washington D.C. where she was secretary for the Representative Paul Cunningham and Congressman Henry O. Talle for six years. She met and married W. W. (Bill) Cannon Jr. on April 13, 1946 in Alexandria, Virginia. They moved to St. George in February of 1947. They established their first business - Cannon Funeral Home - operating it for 20 years. In 1960, they built another mortuary in Kanab, Utah. They later divorced. She leased and operated the Desert Kitchen Café. She later was secretary for Chief of Police in St. George, Utah. She worked at Paula's Cazuela as a hostess. She was expressive, friendly, and fun. The companionship of humor was with her always. If you went away laughing, it would make her day. She was a devoted and loving Grandmother. She is survived by one son: Woody (Laurie) Cannon of Salt Lake City; three daughters: Cathy Gardner of Las Vegas, Nevada, Susie (Jeff) Holt of Dammeron Valley, Utah, and Tootie (Rick) Eddings of Washington, Utah; thirteen grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Florence Cloud; a brother Bud Cloud; a sister Dorothy Kittinger; a grandson Clint Adams and a great- grandson Holden Buh. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 4, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary, prior to services. Interment will be at the Washington City Cemetery.
